Trip Report: Teton Village Pathway

Teton Village pathway is a great trail to jump on from Teton Village, when looking for a quick escape or workout. Ski, bike, run all the way to GTNP. Note that the groomed pathway ends just south of the Park entrance, so if you choose to go further north into GTNP, you must travel/share the show packed road with cars for 1 mile. You can also go south from Teton Village, 2 miles to the Lake Creek Bridge, where the pathway becomes plowed.  Grooming occurs after major snow or wind events , thanks to support from TVA and JHMR.

Trail Creek Nordic

Last Updated: 2/2

Saved by a Rodent!
Whether you were in Punxsutawney, PA or Trail Creek, WY, any woodchuck, marmot, or other member of the order Rodentia, Genus Marmota that was crazy enough to stick his head out this morning would have predicted that we have at least six weeks of great skiing yet to go, way to go Marmota monax

A really great way to use up all that great winter would be to come out to Trail Creek for an awesome Nordic ski.  Conditions this morning are really nice, possibly in one of the “Top Ten Days” of the season category.

Today’s grooming was with the Pisten Bully and covered most every trail.  While a few classic tracks were touched up here and there, they were mostly reset yesterday and are skiing very nicely.  The primary mission of the day was to buff out the skate lanes which resulted in loads of good corduroy and bases that have finally firmed up to the nice and firm category.  Top that off with mostly sunny skies and very pleasant temperatures and any lucky enough to pull off a Nordic ski today won’t be sorry!

Groomer’s choice for today is Faceplant.

Teton Pines Nordic

Last Updated: 1/27

New snow and the new groomer snow cat are making for excellent skiing at Teton Pines. The groomer has been out at sunrise, and tracks – classic and skate  – are skiing well all day long. Friendly reminder, please no snowshoeing or dogs!  (there’s plenty of snowshoe and dog friendly trails just down the road at Stilson, Wilson Centennial, and Emily’s Pond).

Shooting Star

Last Updated: 2/1
The course is in great shape and the trails continue to firm up after the recent snow storms. Monday & Tuesday’s weather looks to promote ideal Nordic conditions, boasting lots of sunshine and warm temps. Outlook is calling for another active cycle of wintery weather beginning Wednesday and lasting through the weekend. Accumulations look to be on the light side, but skiers should anticipate a daily 1-3” of snow to fall on the track during the daylight hours with some possible drifting throughout this system. Overall, it should be another great week to get outside and go on a Nordic adventure.  Next Update will be Monday 2/8. Enjoy!

Groomed Monday night. Ginzued the skate lanes but left the classic track alone because it was still ok and I could not improve it. Skating will be good for the most part. Snow got a little sticky and funky in a few places but 95% looks good.

Please do not park in the library parking lot. Please be sure to keep your dogs on a leash and to clean up after them.
