Update on Cache and Game Creek
We will see continued on-and-off rain and snow for most of the week with clearing forecasted for the weekend. Due to extremely poor road conditions (melting snow and ice), the last section of the Cache Creek Road, as well as the parking lot at the trailhead is closed to motorized vehicles until it can be cleared and sufficiently dries out to make it safe for travel. Additionally, the Nelson/Putt-Putt Trailhead parking lot is closed until snow melts out and it is safe to enter. However, the trails in the Cache Creek Area will remain open to walkers, skiers and bikes watch for wildlife (especially moose) along the trails. Game Creek remains open, however grooming has ended for the season due to access and poor trail conditions. Wildlife is still being seen day and night along valley roads and trails—take extra caution when driving on Forest Roads and recreating on the trails.

Using some lights!
Today’s grooming actually happened late yesterday when the snow was nice and soft. The Pisten Bully made double passes with fresh classic tracks of the perimeter of the fields and most major trails in the woods. There was a bit of a shuffle in the
woods with a few of the minor trails receiving a pass as well.
Reports from late yesterday afternoon indicated that the woods have been skiing pretty well throughout the day and so far not getting too soft in the afternoon. The fields were a bit soft by late afternoon yesterday and the close woods still have plenty of moose and elk activity and residue.
Unless snow forecasts increase the next tentative grooming will be Wednesday evening.
Groomer’s choice for today is to watch the thermometer when planning your ski.

9:00am: The levee and Stilson are groomed and in OK shape. Lots of footprints and even some ski tracks that were too deep to fill in. Classic tracks are shallow but skiable. The school fields will be done around 10:45.
Grand Teton National Park Grooming Report

GTNP Teton Park Road: plowing continues from both ends of the road, however at a slow pace, due to deep snow and mechanical issues with one plow. GTNP officials anticipate the road will reopen clear of snow to cyclists, walkers, human-powered recreation on April 1st. Stay tuned for updates!
Shooting Star Grooming Report

Beginning Sunday (3/24), no more classic tracks will be set on the Nordic course. Spring weather has finally made the trails hard packed and icy, which creates a surface to firm for cutting classic tracks into the snow profile… Also, the warm weather severely melts/degrades the classic tracks in the afternoon. Lastly, reminder that the course will be closed until 11 am today (3/23) for the PPP and be aware that only the tournament course was groomed this morning. The remainder of the course should still be in great shape but could be icier until the weather warms this afternoon. Overall, skiing should be very enjoyable and we’ll attempt to keep daily grooming through Sunday April 7th (Conditions Permitting).

Grand Targhee Grooming Report

Cross Country/Fat Bike 15k: XC OPEN (Last groomed AM 3/26/2019) – No Classic Track Set, Fat Bike OPEN.
*Note: Sorry to inform folks that the nordic grooming cat with our classic track setter has suffered mechanical issues that are not able to be resolved for the rest of the season. Consequently, there will be no more classic track grooming for the rest of the season. However, grooming of the skate track and fat bike trails will continue as conditions allow.
Pinedale Nordic Trail Report

Most trails have been groomed this morning. More or less 1″ of new snow. Warming up quickly. Expect trails to be good until late morning, then softening as the day goes on. There is a calf moose in Lower Surveyor Park trying to make a living. Please control your dogs. The cars are out of the Kelly Park and the trail has been repaired.

Yeti’s Loop

Just finished grooming the Yeti. It always takes longer than anticipated…so much hair. Anyways, classic track is set for counter-clockwise skiing and the skate lane should be amazing. The trail is rather narrow so pay attention and stay in control.
