Nordic Rec Masters Clinic

The Nordic Rec Masters clinic switched gears this week onto classic cross country skis to ski right thru the snowstorm this morning. It was a winter wonderland at Teton Pines Nordic, with many useful tips on how to ride the glide, keep weight over the front foot, naturally swing the arms, keep the head up, and more.

Trail Creek Report

Let’s Have Some Fun!

Thanks to Coach Kathy for the image of one of the Wilson Winter Sports skiers having a great time yesterday on their outing to Trail Creek.  If you make time for an outing to Trail Creek today you will surely have some fun as well.

Yesterday’s storm has more or less wound down with total snow fall in the foot plus range in the last 30 hours.  As Yeti the grooming dog shows below, it is getting pretty deep with the snow depth being close to a person’s waist on the level off the trails.  As of 12:30 the temperature is -1ºC/30ºF with cloudy skies and a light breeze.

Today’s grooming consisted of double Pisten Bully passes on all major trails.  The first pass placed fresh classic tracks with the final pass being for the benefit of skate skiers.  Conditions are still a bit soft and the trails are not quite as wide as they have been, but as we catch up over the next few days things will just get better and all in all it’s pretty good today. Groomer’s choice for today is Beaver Ponds.

Turpin Meadow Ranch Grooming Report

Last Updated: 1/18 @ 12pm

This last storm brought a few inches of new snow but nothing our groomers couldn’t keep up with. All trails are fresh and the classic track is super fun right now. Things are quiet so if you want to have dog friendly trails to yourself come on up!

8″ in 24 hrs, 3″ of that overnight will make for stellar conditions on the mountain today! The recipe goes; add more snow to a decent amount of already-fallen snow and you’ve definitely got a bigger, better powder day. With the passage of this first storm pulse, conditions will be much more mellow; winds will remain light-moderate, 1-3″ of additional snow will fall gently from the sky, and temperatures will remain cooler with a high near 22. We’ve got a whole week of snow in the forecast, so get up today and make the most of what could certainly end up being a season-defining series of back-to-back-to-back powder days!

Cross Country/Fat Bike 15k: XC OPEN (Last groomed AM 1/18/2019, No Classic), Fat Bike CLOSED.

Pinedale Nordic Trail Report

Half Moon Tie-In, Kelly Park, Kelly Tie-In, Lower Surveyor, the perimeter of Upper Surveyor, Tree Loop, Moose Ridge, and Old Road Trail all groomed this morning. About ½ foot of new snow. 30F degrees. Still a few moose hanging out up above. The road and parking lot are plowed. As always, please pick up after your pets and pitch droppings off the groomed ski trails – it really helps to keep the trails clean.
