Nordic Trail Report – North end Moose Wilson Rd

North end Moose Wilson plowed but not open last few days – there was enough snow over the ice on plowed – closed part to ski from moose to Death Canyon/usual Xc ski starting spot – then deep untracked snow at the end of plowed part. It was very peaceful and beautiful Wednesday. I was the only one the whole 3 miles up and back (and some on unplowed part too). Photo from plowed but closed part of Moose Wilson Road:

Trail Creek Report

Last Updated: 2/9

Quiet Saturday!

You are probably one of a minority if you are not either at Bogus Basin with the IMD team, Casper with the Nordic team, or in Alta at TVTAP’s (Teton Valley Trails and Pathways) Alta Vista Freestyle Nordic race this morning. If you are one of that minority you should be able to find plenty of room on the trails today at Trail Creek. If you are following any of the above mentioned events, click on the appropriate link below and results are or probably will be posted as they become available.

Besides plenty of room you will discover quite a bit of fresh grooming today. Today’s focus was Pisten Bully best line skate grooming of the fields, Moose Loop, Woolsey Woods, Animal Farm, Olympic, Black Hole/Boiler and Mug’s Meadow. Homeward and Outward Bound received additional classic grooming. Conditions are pretty good although there are still a few hangovers from the recent 4 feet of snow. 9:45 AM conditions are mostly sunny, calm, with a temperature of -12ºC/10ºF.

Beginning Sunday grooming will concentrate on the Moose Chase Course (get your registration in!); look for double Pisten Bully passes with fresh classic tracks around noon tomorrow.

Groomer’s choice for today is Homeward and Outward Bound.

We groom daily for skate and classic and should have great skiing throughout the weekend! We had so much snow this week (around 40”) it took us a couple of days to dig out. What a difference a year makes!! Wax recommendations for Friday: Glide Swix LF6 Grip: Swix Blue/Green

Shooting Star Grooming Report
Last Updated: 2/9

The moose are out and taking advantage of the amazing Nordic conditions. Be on the lookout for these fuzzy guys as they seek refuge from the deep snow. The course received extensive blade work over the last few days to assist w/leveling the track. Expect softer skiing to remain as plenty of the white stuff is expected to accumulate through all next week. Enjoy!

Next Update: Wednesday
Note: Track in excellent condition, thanks to Friday intensive grooming.

Alta Track

Grooming Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Last Updated: 2/8 @ pm
Skate: Fair |  Classic: Good
It’s getting closer to good skiing! Hopefully pole plants will be firming up soon.
Unfortunately around 10 pm the wind picked up and filled in parts of the classic track I had set around 8pm. On my last lap around 11pm there were places where the snow had drifted about 5-6′ onto the trails. I worked on widening the trails and packing all the new snow down to get to firm conditions just in time for more snow!! Hopefully it won’t drift over tonight. I set new classic track everywhere and groomed for skating everywhere except the “Horse Loop,” preparing for Alta Vista. See you Saturday!
